Sunday, June 29

No pictures from today... yet. They are all on the cameras. We dispersed for worship this morning at 8:30. We sent groups to three churches, Limonál, Mision del Carribe, and Eduardo Castille. Eduardo had church on the beach along with a bbq and a sweet game of futbol to follow. It rained pretty hard, but not enough to dampen their spirits. We sent a large group to Limonál where Josh preached. Jon Michael and Dustin assisted with the Lord's Supper. A group of ladies took worship to Kristen's home. She is the wife of a teacher at the school who is pregnant and on prescribed bed rest until her baby is due... in NOVEMBER!! They have much going on at this time and would value our prayers. After worship, we went to the homes of some of the members for the noon meal and some good conversation in most cases.
Some resorted to communication through board games, but the cross-cultural fellowship was positive over all. After our evening devotional, we took the annual trip to the downtown ice cream shop. All in all, we had an uplifting day worshipping the Lord, serving his people and resting.

Remember in prayer Darrell and Kristen Steiner, their three girls (Anessa, Azrael, and Scarlet), and their unborn baby boy. Also remember Ariel Bonilla and his family who was mentioned last night. He well get his stitched removed on Monday and begin a battery of tests on Tuesday to determine the extent of his injuries.

Happy Sunday!!

Another good day of work was completed yesterday. Yesterday afternoon was a scheduled day at the beach and out at the mahogany plantation hiking up to the water fall so that meant we had about 35 painters descending down on the school. I think the original idea was that half would go to the beach and half to the plantation, but the mahogany plantation attracted a large number of attendants. They had a very exciting time hiking to the mountain. Those pictures will have to wait for another day, though.

Today we are off to the churches for worship. Some of the ladies are taking worship to one of the teacher's wives who is pregnant and on prescribed bed rest. Lunch will be in the homes of many of the members. I can't wait to hear their stories.

Please keep the family of Santiago in your prayers. His son Ariel fell out of their truck last week and split his head open. After receiving several staples and stitches, he has been suffering some ill effects. Tomorrow he is going to get the stitches removed and will then be transported to La Ceiba for further testing to be sure their is no brain damage or bleeding.

Friday June 27

So, to begin with, I should clarify an earlier post. Jacob is working with a couple of SPRING chickens, not supporting chickens.

We had the festival today. Lots of games, candy, toys, and laughter in the schoolyard followed by the pinata - which was more calm this year than ever before. No electricity and no water made work this morning most difficult, so it turned out to be a perfect day for a festival. We did manage to get done steel tied for the security wall while concrete work was halted by the difficulties. As always, we also got some futbol in as well. JonMichael met Christopher's knee, but a bandaid wasn't enough to slow him down in the game. We did finally get water this afternoon and got some fence repairs done. Yes we also painted... a TON. (maybe literally but probably not).

We can't wait to share ALL of the pictures and stories with you in person

Continued

So hopefully my email issue is corrected and you will now be getting at least daily updates.

Continuing about yesterday... Jacob has been doing some carpentry work on the school's windows. The two men hide has been working with are supporting chickens too, one is 76 and the other is 79. They are characters. I am sure he is having a really good time. I know Otto and Austin are.

The ladies got to go to a ladies bible class in town yesterday afternoon. I took a handful of boys to finish painting a class room... that was a mistake. I think they painted everything BUT the walls. The painting continues... everything always needs new paint. The climate here is so destructive on that way. The festival is prepared and the madness begins at 7:00 Friday morning.

The down side to a large group is we are spread out all over town so I only have a few pictures available and no way to sync from other devices. Can't wait to share them all.

Thursday June 26

How this finds everyone doing well back home. One of the positive things about having such a large group is the ability to do some really neat jobs and actually see them through to completion. Yesterday morning, we finished the roofon one of the local churches. The trusses had been destroyed by termites and in less than a day and a half we replaced them all as well as the sheet metal. We are building a class room at one of the other churches and have exhausted their materials. Work continues at a third church on construction of a second floor (a project that has spanned several years as money is available). The security wall is going very well and the progress is far ahead of schedule.

Wednesday, June 25th

Today was a tough day of work. We replaced the roof and trusses on one of the local churches. Several of the girls got to assist the teachers in their teaching and games with the kids this morning. Lots of painting work was done. Lots of blocks were moved (that job has finally finished. And a lot of headway was made on the security wall. In fact they completely ran out of concrete today.

Tuesday, June 24th

We finally made some headway on the giant Pepto Bismol wall today some of the guys moved roughly 600 cinder blocks from the school yard over to the new security wall that is going up. Someone must have thought Jon Michael did a great job. The rest of the group arrived today from Atlanta. Randy Powell should complete the group Wednesday afternoon. We got to go downtown and spend some time in el centro while we were searching for a piñata. Ready for the big projects to begin in the morning.

Painting this beast was one of the projects we were working on today along with some always needed security fence repair and concrete work at the school. Hoping to get the wall conquered by Tuesday morning.

Sunday June 22

Today was a good day. We made it in to Trujillo around 9:15 this morning, just in time to worship with the congregation at Limonal. After lunch, we went around to the different work sites in order to set a plan for ALL the work that needs to be done, and there is a ton. I can't wait to see all of these projects in 9 days. Apple have been sorted and bagged and we are ready to begin sine serious work I'm the morning.

Grace and Peace to you all. We thank you for your continued prayers.

11 people and 30 large suit cases packed into a very small "15 passenger" van which, incidentally, has a far different definition in Honduras than it does in the states.
